ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Provide direct and ongoing contact with the residents, physicians, staff members, families and vendors for the purpose of monitoring the physical, mental and social functioning of the resident; in an effort to prevent or resolve developmental, health, behavioral and interpersonal challenges for the residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN RN CHARGE/SUPERVISOR: Acts in a self-directed manner and can organize and prioritize tasks. Demonstrates teamwork ability. Serves as a resident advocate. Conducts thorough nursing assessments and incident reports of residents. Follows standard nursing care practices for treatment and medication distribution. Maintains current documentation and other clinical records, ensuring completeness in a timely manner. Provides all nursing services as mandates by state and federal agencies. Develops routing visitation schedules, with special exceptions to residents. Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility. Transcribe physician’s orders to resident charts, treatment/care plans, as required. Follow treatment/care plans, as required. Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident’s response to the care, needing immediate attention. Facilitates orientation and training of all necessary staff involved with the care of the residents. Demonstrates willingness for continuing education.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Minimum 1-year experience as nursing supervisor. Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state; BSN preferred. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability.
QUALIFICATIONS: RN – BSN preferred, gerontology certification a plus or willingness to obtain gerontology certification. Previous experience in a RN position is a requirement. Active PA RN license 1+ years’ experience in the long-term care field preferred Experience with the older population.
